The Celebrate Literacy Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and institutions that have made a significant literacy contribution at the local, state or provincial level.  State nominations are due March 31. You must be a NSLA active member to submit a nomination.

Distinguished Educator Award

The Distinguished Educator Award recognizes an educator (administrator, teacher, para, media specialist) who has supported literacy.  State nominations are due  March 31. You must be a NSLA active member to submit a nomination.

Literacy Sponsorships and Donations

As part of our mission to promote literacy throughout the state of Nebraska, NSLA supports opportunities that give back to the community through literacy projects and activities. These include sponsorships and donations. Applications must be submitted by a current NSLA member. 

NSLA supports equitable access to literacy for all.

Sponsorships will be awarded for activities planned and organized by NSLA members that promote literacy to a group such as a literacy booth at a community event, author visits to schools, or a professional development book study. Applicants will be reimbursed when receipts and event summary are submitted.

Donations will be awarded to organizations that promote literacy such as: service organizations, literacy groups that put books in the hands of children. These donations will be paid directly to the organization from NSLA on behalf of the applicant

Student Scholarships

NSLA offers two (2) $1000 Scholarships.  Applications are due on March 31.  Junior, senior or graduate students currently enrolled in a Teacher Education program at a Nebraska post-secondary institution and a resident of the state of Nebraska may apply.

ILA Exemplary Reading Program Award

The Exemplary Reading Program Award recognizes outstanding reading and language arts programs at all grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school).  Its purpose is to call the public attention to outstanding program in schools throughout Canada and the United States.  Applications are due at ILA by November 28, which is followed by a state visit from the state committee.  The state committee will select one school to recognize at the ILA Convention.  At least one faculty or staff member of that school must be a current ILA member.

ILA Honor Council

The Honor Council Program annually recognizes local, student and special interest councils that organize and conduct well-rounded programs serving the council members, the community, the state/provincial council, and International  Literacy Association.  Councils are recognized for accomplishments of the previous uyear.
